Sarasota Educational Resource Center offers one-on-one tutoring sessions for High School Seniors who are beginning the college admission process. The application essay is an increasingly important factor in the admissions decision, many colleges report that a well written essay can become the deciding factor when standards like the GPA and admission test scores are too close to call. Give your child every advantage by helping him or her to identify and master the key elements of a successful essay including, how to "read" both the essay question and the mission of the target school.We will work with your son or daughter to help develop ideas appropriate to the essay prompt, as well as the college mission, and ultimately, to draft a unique and skillful application essay. Your child will walk away from these sessions with a skillfully-written, submission-ready essay that can make the difference in his or her bid for college admission.

About the instructor:

Karen Connelly-Lane has her M.A. in English from San Diego State University and a PhD in American Studies from the University of Minnesota. She has taught college academic writing for nearly twenty years, for the last ten here in Florida. She currently teaches for the Language and Literature department at State College of Florida (SCF) and the Program for Experienced Learners (PEL) at Eckerd College.
